Davido says there’s no truth to the controversial news about a fight between him and fellow pop artiste Wizkid.

In a video interview with AMC Nigeria, the 19-year-old pop singer cleared the air about his relationship with 22-year-old Wizzy.
Wizkid is my friend, Wizkid is my n***a, Wizkid is my brother. There’s nothing wrong at all. We are young n****as making money, that’s all.

A few weeks ago, NET reported that there was tension between both camps, citing instances and scenarios that led to the falling out, most notably when Davido and his HKN crew walked out of the NEAs 2012 while Wizkid was performing.

There has been no response from Wizkid or his label EME yet.

Without D'Banj, I Would Have Been A Waste, He Made Me-- Don Jazzy

The name Don Jazzy today surely commands some respect in the Nigerian showbiz world. A decade ago, when such name is mentioned, questions would arise about who and what does the name mean.

Like that tiny tear in a cloth that was never quickly stitched, Don Jazzy expanded and took many by storm in the entertainment industry to the extent that there is nothing anyone can do about him anymore. To some industry icons he used to see as 'big thing' in the game, this multiple award-winning producer has surpassed them.

Not wanting the Yoruba proverbial saying that 'the river that forgets its source would get dried up', Don Jazzy went online to give honour to those due, especially those who have influenced his booming career.

After paying his first respect to 2Face, he stated about JJC when he posted, "Kudos to JJC for without him, I would still be doing 'tungba' (local) music. [I am] not saying that it (tungba music) is not good. But I found out I was better doing something else."

Turning to D'Banj, Don Jazzy has this to say, "KUDOS to my bro, D'Banj for without him, my production skills I gathered from JJC might have been a waste. Dude made me Don Jazzy."

He went ahead to honour Wande Coal, D'Prince and others including his Federal Government College, Ijanikin, Lagos pals.

Rihanna and Chris Brown Share a Kiss at the VMAs

Wait, what?!
Was it just a simple greeting? Was it more? Does it matter? Rihanna and Chris Brown were spotted exchanging a, um, warm embrace that brought up many questions, which were followed by head-shaking and sighs.
So what the h-e-double hockey sticks is going on here?
Read the best and worst highlights from the VMA's!
At some point during tonight's MTV Video Music Awards, Ri-Ri was caught giving Breezy a kiss while passing through the crowd. And granted, this photo doesn't exactly tell whether it was a friendly peck on the cheek or a slightly-more-than-friendly peck on the lips, but regardless, the shock value is still the same.
Rihanna has openly said (to Oprah Winfrey, nonetheless) that she and Brown have rebuilt their friendship and that she still loves him, not to mention also acknowledging that Chris is in a relationship.
So clearly this was just a friendly exchange and nothing more. Right?

How do you guys feel about this photo? Sound off in the comments!
Take a look back at their relationship

Chris Brown Defends His Non-Rihanna Neck Tattoo: "I'm an Artist and This Is Art"

Chris Brown's new neck tattoo is causing a lot of controversy.
Some say his new ink resembles a bruised and beaten Rihanna (Brown's rep told E! News this is not the case). But if you ask Brown, this permanent new marking is art.
"I'm an artist and this is art. Dia de los Muertos," he tweeted Tuesday.
Chris Brown inspirts new neck-tattoo meme
Indeed, Brown's publicist told E! News the tattoo "is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a MAC cosmetics design he saw."
Tattoo artist Peter Koskela backed this up, telling E! News Brown's ink is "a sugar skull based on the MAC design that Chris brought me."
Fair enough. Funnily enough, just an hour after Brown defended his tattoo, he tweeted that his aptly titled "Don't Judge Me" video will be released soon.

Chris Brown Album Slapped With Renegade Warning Sticker: "This Man Beats Women"

Usually, when albums are slapped with warning stickers, the advisory is over the lyrical content, not the morality of the artist.
Well, it should come as no surprise that, once again, the normal rules of conduct don't apply to Chris Brown.
A group of U.K. campaigners has taken it upon themselves to ensure that prospective buyers of Brown's fifth studio album, Fortune, think before they purchase. In particular, that they think about the singer's violent past.

Peter Okoye of P-square Attacks Fan On Twitter

Peter Okoye Speaks: Good Accent Doesn’t Guarantee Success In Life
If you look very well, you will read the conversation between Peter Okoye and a fan who locked him in a hot argument over his accent.
Peter Okoye, in his response "Good Accent Doesn’t Guarantee Success In Life" Peter Okoye told him.
P-Square apparently found himself in a war of words with a twitter fan who allegedly abused him of having an Ibotic accent few hours ago. Peter Okoye lost it with the fan by stating,
"Speaking good English isn’t what put food on my table“.He proudly said he’s an Original Ibo boy

Rihanna Gets New Tattoo Under Her Breasts

Just another new ink piece for Rihanna.
The singer, who is no stranger to going under the needle, showed off her latest (and pretty large) tattoo today on Twitter, and shared that it was dedicated to her late grandmother.

Chris Brown's Neck Tattoo Artist: "I Would Never Promote Domestic Violence

Chris Brown's not the only one who was stung by accusations that he had tattooed a battered-looking Rihanna on his neck.
"I hate when people misinterpret what I do," veteran tattoo artist Peter Koskela, the man behind Brown's latest piece of body art, exclusively tells E! News. "It was really a blow to me to think that people would think so little of a person that I would actually put a picture of a beaten woman on his neck. That was crazy to me, that he would come to me and say, 'Hey, I want Rihanna's face on me.'"
Well, it sounds especially absurd when he puts it that way.
What did Chris Brown have to say for himself?
"I would never promote any kind of domestic violence like that," Koskela continued. "Even if he asked me to do it, I would have bounced right there. I don't do racist tattoos, I don't do gang-related tattoos and I don't do anything hurtful. That is just the motto I live by. The other tattoo artists might, but I just don't."
As soon as the eyebrows started arching in response to Brown's new tat, the R&B star—who shared a friendly smooch with Rihanna in the middle of the MTV Video Music Awards just last week—immediately quashed the speculation that the meme-inspiring face on his neck was an image of his ex-girlfriend.
"His tattoo is a sugar skull (associated with the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead) and a M.A.C cosmetics design he saw. It is not Rihanna or an abused woman as erroneously reported. It is peeling right now," Brown's rep explained.
"The dude is serious about his art," Koskela, who drew the face Aug. 30, says of his repeat client. "When something inspires him, he wants it somewhere on his body, but he never said why he wanted to get that particular piece."
"When I did see the picture [of Brown in Vegas] and his head was cocked to the side, it did look like it was rough around the edges," the artist admitted, referring to the image that got tongues wagging. "People thought it was a beat-up face, but it takes two weeks to heal because the neck is constantly moving."
Koskela, who says he has also tattooed the other side of Brown's neck in addition to a snake on his right shoulder blade and the bandit under his left arm, tells us that he has only seen the F.A.M.E. artist with his current girlfriend, Karrueche Tran.
Rihanna "never comes up at all," he says.

Nigerian Music: Still Breaking Barriers

Nigerian music has over the years gained prominence, even beyond the African continent. Many youngsters have become household names today through their exploits in the industry, and the Nigerian music industry is assumed to be one of the fastest growing industries in the country. Even with the successes recorded so far, Nigeria music is still breaking barriers  AISHA SHUAIBU write.
Nigerian music before the late 80s can be said to be in its incumbency stage in terms of acceptance in the international market.
Though some genre of music of Nigerian origin like the Juju music, Afro beat and Highlife music were finding their standing among other already established genres of music of international repute like the Reggae, Hip-pop, R and B, just to mention a few; hardly was there a fusion of this genres of music with any of the Nigerian music to create a hybrid.
But today, the same can’t be said as Nigerian beats are now incorporated in some genre to give what can be termed ‘African beats’ or ‘Afro beats’.
Nigerian music acts have over the last decade placed the Nigerian map in the committee of nation with a viable music industry.
The likes of D’bang, P-square 2-face Idibia have all collaborated with one or two A-list music stars to broaden the horizon of the Nigerian music industry.
Recently, Nasarawa Sate-born Bez Idakula boosted the Nigerian music industry profile by becoming the first African to ‘world premier’ a video on American music programme, 106 & Parks with his ‘That Stupid Song’ video. Before this feat, Nigerian act, 2-face Idibia, had earlier set records that would take time to be surpassed.
Some of his achievements are NEA awards 2004 for ‘Song of the Year’; Channel O awards 2005 for ‘Best Male Video”; MTV African Music Awards 2010 for ‘Artist of the Year”, BET awards 2011 for Best International Act” and many more.
On the circulation and more international exposure of Nigerian music, the internet, being the basis of world information has helped major online music platforms such as Notjustok and fast rising mobile phone based music application such as Spinlet expose music fans to the latest from Nigeria and beyond by streaming music and creating safer ways to sell them legally, thereby reducing piracy which is one of the banes of the growth of the Nigerian music industry.
Aside its uniqueness, Nigerian music has come to be brand of its own.
2012 has been a year of total conquering for labels like Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E), home to Wizkid, Skales and CEO Banky W, who recently sold out at the Wizkid concert held in the UK with a turnout of over 5000 people.
Wizkid is currently touring the US with his team performing hits from his first album ‘Superstar’ and E.M.E collaboration album ‘Empire Mates State of Mind’, which dropped fairly recently.
His well-publicised affiliation and contract with Akon’s Konvict music has had him in and out of major cities like New York and Los Angeles, where he was spotted working in the studio with US rappers, The Game and Young Jeezy. His International collaborations have tracks and featuring Sarkodie, Akon, Dotstar, R2Bees and he is even rumoured to be working with UK superstar TinieTempah.
Nigerian hit master D’banj and Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie also came together to work on a track called ‘Come To Me’, which was exclusively made available on Notjustok in June, 2012. The major collaboration between D’banj and his new label G.O.O.D Music, which is owned and run by rapper KanyeWest has left music fans wondering what he could possibly be cooking up in his hit-making kitchen.
In an interview with UK Radio DJ Tim Westwood, D’banj said he would be featuring Kanye on the remix of his song ‘Scape Goat’, which should be released later this year. In the meantime, he has been spotted on red carpets, in music videos and on sets with his new team consisting of Teyana Taylor, 2Chainz, Big Sean, Pusha T and Kid Cudi.
Hit making duo, P-Square took on a joint project with American rapper Rick Ross, who featured on the remix of ‘Beautiful Oyinye’, a song from their latest album ‘The Invasion’. P-Square has remained consistent in the game right from their debut into the industry till date. They are referred to as the ‘most successful duo out of Africa’.
They have sold out shows all over the world from the Afro Beats Festivals in the UK to their first France show in May where they recorded another International collabo with famous French singer Matt Houston. The pace at which the industry is progressing, it will be one to beat in a couple of years to come.
Naija music, Nigerian music, Niija sounds and any other name the Nigerian music brand may be referred may just be the next major thing to take over the world music scene. Fans are hopeful that more barriers would be broken and more records set.

Kanye West Airs New Song ‘Clique’ With Jay-Z And Big Sean

Kanye’s new tunes keep coming with the big, bumping ‘Clique’ featuring verses from Jay-Z and Big Sean.

It’s been a seemingly never-ending lead-up to the GOOD Music mixtape, Cruel Summer. ‘Mercy’ has become a club hit, and ‘Theraflu/Cold’ and ‘New God Flow’ have been received well.
Now he goes for the big guns after previously showcasing labelmates 2 Chainz, Big Sean, and Pusha T — it’s Jay-Z busting out a verse on the fresh new tune produced by Hit-Boy alongside Kanye himself and, again, Big Sean.
The 12-track album will be released on September 18 and has a litany of other guests, including Common, Ghostface Killah, Kid Cudi, John Legend, Chief Keef, CyHi The Prynce, Jadakiss, R. Kelly and Raekwon.

Enrique Iglesias to judge 'American Idol

American Idol is set to begin its 12th season in 2013 with a complete makeover. Singer/songwriter Mariah Carey has already landed a deal with the hit singing competition show, and rumors have been blossoming daily as to who will join her now that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez have left the show.
Previous reports suggest that Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj are set to ink a deal, despite confirmation from American Idol or Fox. Minaj and Urban are set to sign on the line for $8 million a piece.
Now, Entertainment Weekly reports that Enrique Iglesias is set to take on the rumored fourth spot at the judging table, replacing judge Randy Jackson who has moved to a mentoring position.
Iglesias has reportedly received a firm offer of $4 million. EW notes that Iglesias’s addition will round out the table with a variety of genres including country, pop, Latin and rap.
If Iglesias passes, previously rumored AI alum Adam Lambert may be offered the coveted seat.

Prezzo and Goldie play Jay Z and Beyonce on Twitter

For fans who have followed closely the love story between Nigerian singer, Goldie and her Kenyan rapper ‘boyfriend’ Prezzo, there are it’s easy to see that the duo have gotten through to each other at least via social media platform Twitter.
‘PreGol’ recently engaged in a Twitter conversation, using popular lines form Beyonce and husband, Jay Z’s song.
Prezzo posted on his timeline, ‘Cuz that rock on ur fingeer’s like a tumour u cant fit your hand in ur new purse/its humorous to me they watching n we just yatchin’.
Goldie responded with a line in the same song ‘You need a real woman in your life, taking care of home and still fly, I can help you build ur account, that’s a good look believe me’,  @goldieharvey tweeted.
We believe the lyrics are from Beyonce’s song ‘Upgrade U’ (one of the lead singles off the album B’Day), featuring hubby Jay Z.
What’s this pair trying to tell us?

I Will Slap Wizkid!, Yes, Eedris Is Why D'Banj, P-Square Get Paid Today--Don Jazzy

Just days ago, news went viral about controversial rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem claiming to be the reason artistes like D'Banj, P-Square and others were getting paid today.

This statement has highly been reacted to by many, who have had mixed feelings and reactions to it, believed it was uncalled for by the Kennis Music artiste to have said such. Some felt it was just a publicity stunt by Eedris to remain relevant in the news.

Reacting to Eedris' statement was Don Jazzy. The Mavin Records boss tweeted, "But I won't put it exactly like that. I think what he (Eedris) meant was [that] guys like him, our father 2baba, Tetuila, Eldee etc inspired us to join the game (music industry).

"So, if they didn't inspire us to join the game, we won't be getting paid. True, baba (Eedris) tuale.

I used to mime 'Shako Mo', 'Belinda' and 'Omode Meta Sere' [while] in secondary school. So, baba (Eedris) has the right to yarn (talk) anything o."

However, Don baba J, as the multiple award-winning music producer is fondly called did a joke on Wizkid when jokingly tweeted afterwards on being respected by Wizkid as he has done to 2Face, Eedris and others.

He tweeted, "that been said, 'oya', Wizkid, anyday you don't 'tuale for me', when I see you 'ehnnnnn', I go 'wozzzzzzz (slap)' you 22 slaps. lol."

So, a message for Wizkid, the next time you see Don Jazzy, quickly 'tuale' him before you get 22 slaps from Don Jazzy's flat, broad and soft palms.

This is not the first time Dapo Oyebanjo popularly known as D'Banj is rumoured to be in sizzling romance with a high class lady and this may not be the last. In time past, the Kokomaster, as he is also fondly called, had been romantically linked with superstar Nollywood actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

Album Review: Refazed: Rejuvenated, Faze comes back strong

Album- Refazed
Artiste- Faze
Features- 2Face Idibia, Black Face, Vector
Label- Independent Entertainment (2012)
After a couple of missteps last year, Faze releases his fourth studio album Refazed  without a hit single in heavy rotation or a colourful music video getting heavy airplay. The former Plantashun Boy is so confident of his talent that he drops an album without the obligatory hype. Truth be told, we know what Faze can do, from his Plantashun Boyz days to his solo career.
‘I’m okay musically, physically and mentally, like Fela Kuti and Marley. If you check out my history you’ll never forget me…I’m okay’ sings Faze on the album opener ‘I’m Okay’ in a bid to reassure his fans that he’s still got the magic touch. To show that he’ also ‘current,’ Faze crafts an Azonto track on ‘Follow Your Mind’ which sounds like a P-Square creation. ‘Follow Your Mind’ is a rare Azonto creature, as it’s not as fast-paced as other Azonto songs. Faze is also confident enough to sing on the song and not just ride the beat. ‘Butterflies’ is a pop song with European heritage that shows that Faze has been studying trends, and the song works- a couple of years out of the game haven’t really hurt Faze’s talent.
It’s no secret that Faze is one of the best R&B singers in the country, and he chooses to flex his pipes on ‘Secret’- a cool R&B song. ‘Take off your clothes; I’m ready to take you on a cruise. I know you are ready to roll. Can you keep a secret?’ asks Faze on one of the standout tracks on his new LP. ‘Good Wife’ which eschews the virtues of a good woman eerily sounds like Faze’s hit single ‘Faze Alone’. Here, it seems Faze is trying to re-create the formula of his debut single; he even sneaks the name ‘Angel Gabriella’ (angel Gabriella was the title of a song in Faze’s first album) in the song. ‘Good Wife’ is a good track, but would have been better if ‘Faze Alone’ didn’t exist.
The past is still heavy on Faze’s mind. ‘Everybody get their own time. Today fit be your own, tomorrow fit be mine. So hear what I say, don’t think twice, see am talking from experience no be lie’ he sings on ‘Reality Check’. His sermon on patience and hardwork is sort of biographical, if you remember that Faze had to fight for his spot in an era monopolized by his former band mate 2face Idibia. Coming from an authentic place, ‘Reality Check’ hits the mark.
‘Sweetie Sweetie’ is a dance track straight from the confectionery. ‘My Girl’ featuring Vector is a tale of a man longing for another man’s girl. Faze brings his high-pitched voice and Vector’s witty lines (wanna know the reason I can’t cheat on your down time/I’m still an Arsenal fan) to deliver more pop candy. ‘Nkem’ sounds tepid, one of the few wrong turns on the album.
Plantashun Boyz fans will be definitely like ‘Best of the Best’ which features all the three members of the iconic pop group. The trio go down memory lane, recollect their hits and pledge to be still on top. It’s a standard Plantashun Boyz song complete with Faze’s patent (annoying) shrill and a rap verse from Black Face.
17 tracks long, Refazed might be a bit too long for your average listener, but Faze makes few mistakes on his new LP. He sounds rejuvenated after a couple of years in the wilderness. He’s been re-fazed, no doubt, and now it’s time for the public to acknowledge that.

The Guardian UK reviews D’banj’s HMV Apollo concert

As he’s the figurehead of Nigerian Afrobeats, it feels appropriate that D’Banj’s debut UK headline show takes place on the final day of the Notting Hill carnival. Alongside the usual dancehall and soca, a good proportion of the anthems that fuelled this year’s sound systems and floats are the hits that have propelled the rise of Afrobeats in the UK: Atumpan‘s The Thing, Ice Prince‘s Oleku and, of course, D’Banj‘s own Oliver Twist, a song of such popular reach that it even made it on to EastEnders.
Keeping that carnival spirit going is D’Banj’s MO tonight, as is that of a significant proportion of the audience, who have hotfooted it down the road from the carnival. As an entertainer, D’Banj treads the line between suave and rambunctious with ease: his dapper yellow-lapelled blazer is swiftly shed as he starts to rival his own dancers in snake-hipped, low-grinding ability, and the gold chain follows as he plunges off stage for a spot of crowd-surfing. By the show’s climax, D’Banj is half-naked and essaying moves that seem to refer mostly to the title of his forthcoming album, Mr Endowed.
After a late entrance compounded by technical difficulties leaves the crowd slightly restless, D’Banj may feel putting that level of work in is necessary – but it transpires that the music does the trick just as well. ‘This is not a fluke,’ he announces midway through the show, perhaps mindful that not everyone present is aware of his seven-year career before Oliver Twist. Tonight, though, his older material goes down almost as well, from the call-and-response of Why Me to the lovelorn Scapegoat, and D’Banj bridges the gap between his more lilting, organic songs and his recent tougher, trancier dance-floor anthems with ease. His between-song patter has a tendency to ramble, but the show’s culmination in Oliver Twist is stellar proof that an international hit can be engineered with ease if based around a resonant, inarguable statement such as ‘I like BeyoncĂ©‘.
