Ghanaian singers drag Flavour to court

Popular Nigerian highlife musician, Flavour Nabania is currently involved in a legal battle with Ghanaian singing duo, Wutah, over the alleged theft of their intellectual property.
According to the Ghanaians, Flavour’s new single Kwarikwa, featuring Fally Ipupa, was a ‘carbon copy’ of their Kotosa song, which they released in 2008. They are accusing the Nigerian singer of stealing the chorus, rhythm, and tempo of their song without consulting with them for permission.
‘This does not come as a surprise to me, as I already knew point blank that the material put out by Flavour was an outright plagiarized product of Kotosa. I mean, I heard what seemed like Kotosa blasting from the huge speakers in a CD vendor’s shop when I was driving to a friend’s home when I visited Nigeria last two months. I was happy and surprised that Kotosa had finally made its way to Nigeria after making hits in Ghana, only to hear Flavour’s signature hi-life voice on the beat. I was disappointed to say the least. I shook my head as I passed by’ said the manager of the defunct group.
Meanwhile, Flavour’s manager, Benjamin, while speaking to NET, refused to disclose any information from their quarters,I’m not saying anything about it yet‘.
Flavour, whose real name is Chinedu Okoli,  is currently signed to 2nite Entertainment, and released his second album, Uplifted in 2010.

Chris Okotie Verbally Attacks Ex-wife During Sunday Service… Likens her to Jezebel in the Bible!

If you thought you heard the last of the Chris Okotie and Stephanie Henshaw divorce saga, think again! Report reaching us regarding Rev. Chris Okotie’s recent outburst, we have sufficient reason to believe the worst is yet to come.
Gist reaching us from reliable sources, in fact anonymous members of Chris Okotie’s church, The Household of God, said that the Rev. threw caution into the wind during a Sunday service, as he began a verbal attack on his ex-wife Stephanie. Chris Okotie was said to have said unprintable things about her, according to him, based on his experience with her, she was no different from Jezebel in the Bible (Just in case you don’t know who Jezebel in the Bible was: The name Jezebel came to be associated with false prophets, and further associated by the early 20th century with fallen or abandoned women. In Christian lore, a comparison to Jezebel suggested that a person was a pagan or an apostate masquerading as a servant of God. By manipulation and/or seduction, she misled the saints of God into sins of idolatry and sexual immorality)
According to same sources, Rev. Chris Okotie was visibly upset as he went on and on about the terrible deeds of his ex-wife, he was quoted as saying, he was free to judge her based on what he suffered while he was still married to her, he went as far as daring her to go to CNN, BCC or wherever to talk about him, but he would never take her back.
Gist also has it that he has since collected all expensive items he got for her while they were married, these items include, a BMW X6 and a Mercedes Benz S Class.
We can’t but wonder what exactly triggered this recent outburst, or what her crimes were as his wife for him to have labelled her a ‘Jezebel.’ the last time any thing was heard from his ex-wife Stephanie Henshaw was over two months ago when she made a few comments on facebook about the divorce
As it appears there is still much more to come, as we expect a response from the Stephanie’s camp. This however is turning out to be another soap opera for public consumption and ridicule!

Breaking News: M.I, Omawumi To Host The Headies 2012!

Best-selling singer-songwriter Omawumi Megbele and hip-hop icon Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga have been announced as hosts for the 7th edition of The Headies – Nigeria’s biggest music honours event.
Announcing this today, executive producer Ayo Animashaun says the pair have been selected in line with the awards’ tradition of picking talented and inspiring entertainers, to front an awards ceremony that parades some of the continent’s biggest entertainers.
“It’s a very important year for us at The Headies, and for the Nigerian music industry in general’, Animashaun, who founded the awards in 2006 says. “And we found in M.I and Omawumi, two great entertainers who are very passionate about the awards, passionate about their work, passionate about the music business and a great source of inspiration to young, up and coming artistes, because of their peculiar stories climbing up”.
Omawumi, 30, came second on West Africa Idol, in 2007. Her success on that show provided a strong foundation for her career, and she hasn’t looked back for a minute. With her debut single ‘In the music’ released in 2008, she established herself as a talent to court, and a singer whose eyes are on the global stage. The success of that single, won her the coveted ‘Next Rated’ prize at The Headies in 2009. The award came with a brand new KIA Optima. Omawumi has moved on to become a remarkably successful singer, actor, performer and philanthropist.
Omawumi’s co-host M.I, has risen from grass to grace, in just about half a decade. And, from a Jos-bred wanna -be, who worked hard to find a niche in the hip hop community, M.I has now become the leading rapper and hip hop ambassador on the continent, with many medals to show for his achievements. The Chocolate City rapper is a multiple winner at The Headies, with his prizes including Best Rap Album and Revelation of the year (both in 2009). He has won a total of 9 Headies, starting from his first surprise win in 2008.
‘I won my first Headie when no one knew who I was’ M.I says. ‘It was a big leap for me and my career and I can say the same for a lot of my colleagues. Several years after, I’m excited to be here, performing in a very important capacity, along with my very good friend Omawumi’.
You know one of the things over the years that have been traditionally so great about the Headies awards is the fact that they do two things well. They merge the aspirational aspect of entertainment with the inspirational aspect of entertainment. You take us to the villages, we meet people where they don’t really have water we’ve done that. At the same time you take people to Brazil. A young person can look and be inspired and also aspire too,” he concluded.
Both acts have already been getting together, sharing ideas and fine-tuning concepts, along with The Headies producers, in anticipation of a great show this year.
It’s been fun, fun, fun for me’ Omawumi comments. ‘From the photo shoot to all the meetings, rehearsals, fittings and interviews, I can see that I’m going to have the fun of my life. And I promise this year’s guests will have even more fun. Me and M.I go craze!’.
The Headies 2012 will hold at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday October 20.
